Community Guidelines

Last updated: February 19, 2026

1. Our Standards

VoteFlip is a place for open, honest conversation. We believe every person should feel safe sharing their opinion, voting on topics they care about, and engaging with fellow community members. To make that possible we ask everyone to follow these guidelines.

  • Be respectful — disagree with ideas, not with people. Personal attacks, insults, and name-calling have no place here.
  • Be honest — vote sincerely. Don't use bots, multiple accounts, or coordinated groups to manipulate results.
  • Be constructive — add value to conversations. Low-effort spam, trolling, and off-topic derailing harm the experience for everyone.
  • Respect privacy — don't share other people's personal information without their consent.

2. Prohibited Content

The following types of content are not allowed on VoteFlip. Polls, comments, profile information, or any other user-generated content that contains or promotes:

  • Hate speech — content that attacks, demeans, or incites violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Harassment & bullying — targeted abuse, threats, intimidation, doxxing (sharing private information), or any behaviour intended to harm or silence another person.
  • Violence & dangerous activity — glorifying or encouraging self-harm, violence, terrorism, or dangerous challenges.
  • Sexually explicit or NSFW content — pornography, sexually suggestive images, or solicitation.
  • Misinformation — deliberately false or misleading claims about health, elections, emergencies, or other topics where inaccuracy causes real-world harm.
  • Spam & scams — unsolicited advertising, phishing links, pyramid schemes, cryptocurrency scams, or repetitive off-topic posts.
  • Vote manipulation — using multiple accounts, bots, scripts, or coordinated campaigns to artificially inflate or deflate poll results.
  • Impersonation — pretending to be another person, brand, or organisation in a deceptive way.
  • Illegal activity — content that promotes or facilitates illegal actions, including drug sales, weapons trafficking, or intellectual property theft.
  • Content involving minors — any content that exploits, endangers, or sexualises minors will result in immediate permanent ban and may be reported to law enforcement.

3. Enforcement

When a violation is confirmed our moderation team takes action proportional to the severity:

Level 1 — Warning

The offending content is removed and the user receives a written warning. This applies to first-time or minor violations.

Level 2 — Temporary Suspension

The user's account is temporarily suspended for 7–30 days depending on the severity and history. Repeated warnings will escalate to this level.

Level 3 — Permanent Ban

The account is permanently banned. This is reserved for severe violations (hate speech, harassment, CSAM, illegal activity) or repeated offenders. Bans may be reported to relevant authorities where required by law.

Polls with 5 or more reports are automatically hidden from public feeds pending manual review.

4. Reporting

If you see content that violates these guidelines, please report it:

  1. Open the poll or comment and tap the ··· menu.
  2. Select Report.
  3. Choose the reason that best describes the violation (spam, inappropriate, misinformation, harassment, or other).

Reports are reviewed by our moderation team, typically within 24 hours. You won't receive a notification about the outcome to protect the privacy of all parties, but action will be taken where warranted.

5. Appeals

If you believe your content was removed or your account was suspended in error, you can appeal the decision:

  1. Email appeals@voteflip.com with your username and a description of the issue.
  2. A different moderator (not the one who made the original decision) will review your appeal.
  3. You will receive a response within 7 business days.

We are committed to fair and transparent moderation. If we made a mistake, we will reverse the action and notify you.

6. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these guidelines as the platform evolves. Significant changes will be announced via an in-app notification and updated on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
